Hessol Honored for Public Service

Nancy Hessol, MSPH, UCSF School of Pharmacy faculty member, was honored on June 10, 2009 by the City and County of San Francisco with two awards for her service to the San Francisco Public Health Foundation.

Hessol received a certificate of honor from San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and a certificate of appreciation from Mitchell Katz, MD, director of health, and Steven Tierney, EdD, health commissioner, both of the San Francisco Department of Public Health.

The San Francisco Public Health Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides financial support for the delivery of quality, efficient, and cost-effective health care to San Francisco. Hessol served as a member of Foundation's board of directors since 2002 and as the board's secretary before stepping down in June 2009.

Hessol is an epidemiologist and associate professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, UCSF School of Pharmacy. She has more than 25 years of experience in the public health arena working in environmental and occupational health, perinatal outcomes research, and infectious disease epidemiology.
